IRON DERRICKMAN®

The Iron Derrickman® (patented) is a racking board mounted pipe handling system that is designed to mount into existing land based double and triple masted drilling rigs. The system removes drilling hands from the racking board and the drill floor during tripping operations.
The Iron Derrickman® vertically lifts, racks and un-racks double or triple stands of Drill Pipe, Heavyweight and Drill Collars to 7" and manipulates collars up to 8" into racking board collar fingers all without a Derrickman in the mast or a roughneck on the drill floor.
The unique rotating gate design of the Iron Derrickman® offers simplicity of operation, low mast loading, and solid, smooth control of all pipe movements.
The combination of some innovative mechanical engineering, positive control of hydraulic closed loop circuitry, electrical remote motion controls, radio and direct wired panel make for intuitive feel of the operation.
Combined with the Vertical Offline Stand Builder, the Iron Derrickman® Stand Package provides safety as well as great savings to any operator.

DESCRIPTION
-
Designed for easy installation into the Double and Triple masts of land rigs.
-
Attached to or built as part of the racking board, the system is compact, lightweight and simple to rig up / down. Some installations allow the Iron Derrickman™ to remain in the mast during rig moves.
-
The Iron Derrickman® lifts a stand of drill pipe from below the tool joint, moves the stand through the rotating gate and automatically racks the pipe in the board. Triple stands of Drill collars up to 7" are lifted and racked within collar fingers on the well center side the Iron Derrickman®.
-
The Iron Derrickman® eliminates the need for wind walls on the racking board.
-
Eliminates the need for the Derrickman to climb the mast to make connections in pad, directional and under balanced drilling operations.
-
The system is operational from the rig floor through a portable radio control or via a hard wired panel.
Keeping the Derrickmen and Floormen out of harms way.
